Avis Industrial Corporation, which owns a number of recycling equipment brands, acquired the assets of Pennsylvania-based FEMCO Machine and renamed it FAMCO Service and Machine. 

The Carton Council of North America appointed Lena Zodda, director of sustainability at Pactiv Evergreen, as vice president of sustainability and school recycling. 

Circular Indiana will launch a year-long outreach campaign on April 4, with two months each focused on six commodities in the circular economy: paper, glass, plastic, organics, metal and e-scrap. 

DS Smith identified a “Dirty Dozen” list of items that confuse consumers when it comes to recycling, including junk mail, glittery wrapping paper, padded envelopes, sandwich wrappers and microwavable food trays.

LRS acquired roll-off and transfer station service company Junoll Services, effective immediately. Financial terms were not disclosed. 

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown signed into law an extended producer responsibility (EPR) bill for mattresses, the fourth in the U.S. 

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) and The Recycling Partnership announced additional grants to recycling programs in the state, sending over $790,000 to 13 recycling programs. 

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee signed into law an organics management bill, which establishes statewide goals, requires local governments to provide source-separated organics collection service and mandates businesses arrange for organics collection services, among other things.
