A compromise over funding for recycling programs in Wisconsin appears to be emerging as lawmakers and state officials work out a proposal that would require and financially support efforts by local governments to divert recyclables from landfills. However, a coalition of recycling organizations is leery.

According to recently-released figures from the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) containerboard, Kraft paper and paperboard all ended March 2011 at higher levels than month-earlier figures. Additionally, the trade association released an audit of recovered paper data, and awarded its annual school recycling award.
