2 | Save the date for the 2014 Resource Recycling Conference

If you're ready to engage deeply with recycling leaders, set your sights on the Big Easy.

The 2014 Resource Recycling Conference will be held Sept. 16-17 at the New Orleans Hilton Riverside in New Orleans, Louisiana. More information regarding sponsoring, exhibiting and registration will be coming soon.

The Resource Recycling Conference is the premier conference for the recycling industry's most influential policy leaders, CEOs and government officials. RRC features thought-provoking sessions from industry experts, extensive educational workshops and a bustling tradeshow where attendees can meet current and future business partners face-to-face.

The conference will also once again feature the Recycling Innovators Forum, held the afternoon before the launch of the conference, in which designers and inventors take center stage in hopes of winning one of two $20,000 funding awards.

Approximately 500 recycling professionals from 37 states and four Canadian provinces attended this exclusive event in 2013 in Louisville, and recycling's best and brightest will be on hand again at the 2014 conference. Visit rrconference.com for updates and information on the 2014 conference.

8 | Plastics Recycling 2014: Labeling issues unwrapped

Coordination between product designers and plastic recycling companies is rare, but that may be changing. As bottle manufacturers and beverage companies push new types of labels, industry groups are stepping in to make sure recycling options exist for bottles featuring the fresh formats.

Plastics Recycling 2014 will feature a discussion exploring how groups are approaching the issue of shrink sleeve labels from different angles. John Standish, the Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers technical director, will discuss his group's guidelines and recent success stories for label design. For an industry perspective, the session turns to Eastman Chemical sustainability market development manager Holli Whitt, speaking on behalf of the Full Wrap Label Consortium. Finally, Avery Dennison senior sustainability manager Rosalyn Bandy will offer a manufacturer's take on product design.

Don't miss Plastics Recycling 2014, to be held March 11-12 at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida. For more information, visit www.plasticsrecycling.com.

Attendees are also invited to come early and stay late for some great additional events. On the afternoon of March 10, the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) will host a technical forum. The Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers (APR) will hold its winter membership meeting on March 13. And the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Environmental Division will hold the Global Plastics Environmental Conference March 12-14. Go to www.plasticsrecycling.com for more information.
