5 | Chinese paper recycling growth to moderate


Han Yao, RISI's Asian paper packaging analyst, has issued a research report suggesting that the rapid expansion of paper recycling capacity in China is reaching its peak, and growth will slow down in the coming years. The largest surge in capacity growth was last year, when 8.0 million tons of containerboard and boxboard capacity came on line.

Call2Recycle, a North American battery recycling organization, has announced a 13.1 percent increase in battery collections in 2011.

The volume of plastic scrap exported in October, at 412.974 million pounds, was down 1.0 percent from its September figure. The volume also dipped when matched against its October 2010 position, with a 2.6 percent decrease in the volume of exports.
