1 | India adopts landmark plastic rules


India's Ministry of Environment has adopted new rules governing the management and disposal of plastic waste. The new rules include an extended producer responsibility system, which the country's plastics industry is opposing.

3 | Graham Packaging releases earnings


Plastic packaging manufacturer and recycling processor Graham Packaging, Inc. released both its quarterly and year-end earnings statement Thursday. The company announced net sales increased $241.7 million between 2009 and 2010 to $2.5127 billion, with net sales for the fourth quarter of 2010 (ending Dec. 31) up $109.2 million year-over-year to $643.9 million.

Iowa representatives have introduced a bill that would repeal the state's 30 year old container deposit law. House Study Bill 74 would end the existing system, increase fines for littering and change waste volume goals.
