In addition to the millions of Japanese workers affected by the disaster, transportation to, from and within Japan has proven to be exceedingly difficult due to damaged roads, bridges, railways, ports and the ongoing crisis at several of the country's nuclear power facilities. The European Union Environment Council has approved a revised set of rules on waste electrical and electronic equipment that is designed to improve collection and recycling, while reducing illegal exports. However, one non-profit organization isn't applauding the work of the committee, instead calling its efforts "tepid."
