The Target Corporation has agreed to pay out $22.5 million in penalties, concluding a two-year suit brought against the company by several California law enforcement agencies over charges that for years the company improperly disposed of hazardous waste, including electronics.

2 | PC-board value resumes climb

The value of metals in recovered printed wiring boards continued its upward climb after dipping slightly in January, reaching an impressive $7.18 per pound last month. The February value was two percent above that of January and an impressive 37.8 percent above its February 2010 level. For the first two months of the year, the average price of PWB scrap was $7.10 per pound - up 34.5 percent over the 2010 level.

3 | ECS set for new facility opening

ECS Refining has completed the purchase of a 263,000 square foot former car manufacturing plant in Stockton, California and is in the process of converting it to a 25 million pound per month electronics recycling facility. Approximately 150 current workers at the ECS' Santa Clara facility will be offered the opportunity to move to the new location, although the company's corporate headquarters will remain in Santa Clara.
