Circular Computing launched a global ITAD program that will pay to plant five trees for every computer that enters the program. 

VodafoneZiggo and e-scrap company Closing the Loop will partner to recycle one discarded phone for each new phone a VodafoneZiggo colleague buys or leases. 

OEMs Haier America and Micro Center reached settlement agreements with Ohio warehouse owners in the Closed Loop Refining and Recovery CRT abandonment case. Haier America agreed to pay $90,000 and Micro Center agreed to pay $27,490, although a judge hasn’t yet ruled on the agreements. 

Microsoft’s first Windows 11 update will include information instructing consumers on how to recycle devices. 

Nonprofit e-scrap company RecycleForce received a roughly $200,000 grant from the U.S. EPA for job training as the company expands into a larger facility. The EPA’s deputy administrator, Janet McCabe, who lives only a few miles away, attended a Feb. 11 celebration at RecycleForce. 

European e-commerce company Manutan announced it will acquire a majority interest in French electronics refurbishment, reuse and recycling startup ZACK.
