Durham, North Carolina, has adopted a pilot program to boost composting.

Green Bay Packaging, which operates recycled and virgin paper mills, has acquired land in Casa Grande, Arizona, where the company is planning a future box plant.

A Purdue University Fort Wayne professor, along with UHV Technologies, has secured two major U.S. Department of Energy grants to develop AI-supported recycling systems.

Recology released its annual sustainability report covering 2023, indicating the hauler and MRF operator processed 1.4 million tons of recyclable and compostable material last year.

U.K.-based Reconomy acquired Minnesota-based reclaimer Vermilion Holdings, to add take-back capabilities and enhanced regulatory compliance services. Only a week earlier, Reconomy announced its first U.S. acquisition, of Connecticut-based hauler Lincoln Waste Solutions.

Technology solutions provider Routeware, which offers collection fleet optimization services for the recycling sector, named Eric Speiser as the company’s chief revenue officer.

The U.S. Composting Council will hold an Aug. 29 webinar on how composters and food rescue organizations can collaborate to reduce food waste.
