News from Ameripen, Colorado’s Producer Responsibility Advisory Board and more

Ameripen’s fourth webinar in its extended producer responsibility series, “Preparing for Packaging Producer Responsibility in the U.S.” will be held on May 22 and will center on learning from needs assessments. 

AMP installed a system that can process about 10,000 tons of single-stream and commercial recycling annually at the Pitt County Recycling Center in Greenville, North Carolina, which is owned and operated by Recycling and Disposal Solutions of Virginia.

Colorado’s Producer Responsibility Advisory Board is seeking applications to fill the manufacturer of recycled paper products seat and finish out a two-year term slated to end in December of 2024. It is accepting applications until May 24 or until the seat is filled.

GreenWaste released its 2023 sustainability report, noting that it diverted more than 1.3 million tons of material from disposal, including over 520,000 tons of yard trimmings, food scraps and other organic material.

The International Alliance of Waste Pickers held its first international congress in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 

Waste Connections purchased Tacoma, Washington-based Pioneer Recycling Services for an undisclosed amount.
