in Recycling

grant watch / one_photo, ShutterstockMassachusetts provides seven grants to recycling businesses to help boost volumes and quality, and North Carolina accepts applications for its own business development grant program.

Park recycling bins: The Dr Pepper Snapple Group and Keep America Beautiful are providing funding for 900 new recycling bins in public parks around the U.S. this year. The bins were awarded through the groups’ Park Recycling Bin Grant Program, which is now in its fourth year. Over the life of the program, 3,400 bins have been awarded across 28 states.

Business development grants: The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) has awarded grants totaling more than $900,000 to seven recycling companies. The funding, awarded through the commonwealth’s Recycling Business Development Grant program, will enable the companies to increase the volumes and quality of recycling of mattresses, packaged foods, plastics and glass.

Applications accepted: The state of North Carolina is accepting applications for grants through its Recycling Business Development Grant program. The Recycling Business Assistance Center is accepting applications through the end of the business day on October 18.

Campus sustainability funding: PepsiCo Recycling has launched a new Zero Impact Fund, which will provide up to $10,000 to colleges and universities to help fund their “eco-innovations.” Applications are being accepted through Nov. 1.
