The Canada Plastics Pact announced four new partners: the packaging sustainability research lab at Conestoga College, PP film manufacturer Copol International, Pet Food Association of Canada and sustainability verification firm Realizse.

The nonprofit Circulate Initiative announced that its Responsible Sourcing Initiative, which aims to address human rights challenges in plastics recycling, will focus on the informal waste picker sector in Indonesia for its second implementation phase. 

Footwear manufacturer Crocs launched a version of its iconic plastic clog made with 25% recycled material sourced from post-consumer shoes.

The Ellen Macarthur Foundation announced Jonquil Hackenberg as its new CEO, effective Nov. 4. Hackenberg most recently was CEO of Eunomia Research and Consulting, and will succeed Andrew Morlet, who was CEO for 10 years. 

British Columbia-based KC Recycling announced an expansion of its recycled PP plant, boosted by a CAD $1.2 million investment from the CleanBC Plastics Action Fund. Other elements of the project include upgrading bulk material handling processes and implementing a contamination reduction system.

Global food giant Mondelez announced it will include chemically recycled plastic in packaging for most of its Triscuit snack crackers in the U.S. and Canada.

Hauler Waste Connections is ramping up automation and fire prevention at its new MRF in Plainfield, Illinois. The new facility sits on the site of its predecessor, which was destroyed by fire in 2021.
