Charter Next Generation will use Revolution Sustainable Solutions’ food-grade post-consumer LLDPE in its packaging.

The companies announced the offtake agreement as a collaboration to “drive market adoption of commercially available post-consumer recycled, linear low density polyethylene for food and flexible packaging applications.”

Scott Hammer, Charter Next Generation’s director of corporate sustainability, said in the press release that the combination of Revolution’s proprietary recycling process and CNG’s experience developing films with PCR “enables brands to transition to post-consumer recycled materials without sacrificing performance.” Charter Next Generation will offer Revolution’s Encore food-grade PCR-LLDPE resin in stand-up pouches, pre-made bags and roll stock for both vertical and horizontal form fill and seal packaging.

Both Charter Next Generation and Revolution are members of the U.S. Plastics Pact, a consortium launched as part of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. As Pact members, they committed to reach 30% PCR in their packaging by 2025. The press release noted that the films made with Revolution’s PCR will have 40% or more recycled content.
