Major equipment installations come with logistical considerations, and for space-limited plastics sorting facilities, that makes things complicated.

The Mistral Compact from Pellenc ST can help a company advance optical sortation in a simplified manner.

“This machine is designed for retrofitting into plants with limited space and access, while guaranteeing the same high levels of performance delivered by the Mistral+ range,” the company stated in a release.

The system can sort a variety of types of recyclables, including plastics.

Pellenc ST bills the optical sorting system as “the most compact sorting machine on the market.” The machine comes with the same technical support as the company’s more common Mistral+ range of equipment.

The compact system comes in a variety of widths, ranging from 0.8 meters up to 2.8 meters. According to Pellenc ST, the Mistral Compact is ideal for a wide variety of retrofit projects.

“Two possible configurations mean it can be easily integrated into existing sites in place of any old equipment, regardless of the width, model or brand previously installed,” the company stated.

The machine comes with a standard 25-millimeter valve block and is certified to California’s IP65 environmental standards. The Mistral Compact uses Modbus and Profinet software interfaces.
