PetroChem Wire: Recycled PVC demand in full swing

Recycled PVC buying interest from pipe manufacturers and compounders has improved since mid-May.

Last week mixed colors pipe-grade regrind was offered at 24 cents per pound delivered U.S. East Coast. Better demand and higher prime PVC prices are encouraging sellers’ optimism.

In the prime PVC market, producers say demand has been stronger than anyone anticipated so far this year, and some suppliers were asserting last week that prices were up at least 2 cents per pound in May and would rise another 3 cents per pound in June.

At the end of the week, pipe-grade prime PVC was reported at 62 to 66 cents per pound.
