Recycling technology company swissRTec has developed the Battery Master Mill to handle anode and cathode material from lithium-ion batteries.

The Battery Master Mill is designed for the post-treatment and ball shaping of anode and cathode material to remove the black mass from the anode and cathode foils, simultaneously shaping it into balls.

Input material is fed into the mill from the top, then high-impact forces detach the black mass while crushing and shaping the anode and cathode material.

Then, the material is pneumatically conveyed through the mill to the separation stages which “enable the individual fractions to achieve high quality output.”

It also has a bidirectional rotor with an energy optimized drive, is maintenance friendly and allows for fast tooling replacement and multiple uses.

“When you recycle, you cannot control your intake – you have to deal with the materials that come your way,” said Mario Zoellig, CEO of swissRTec, in a press release. “But our equipment and systems allow you to better adapt to what comes in, and thus make processing more productive and economical therefore generating the sought-after added value.”
