Whether it’s cutting through end-of-life electronics, rubber tires, metals or other dense material streams, “The Beast” from BCA Industries provides high-volume throughput, according to the equipment supplier.

The company’s ES2000 shredder, also known as The Beast, is designed “to help high-volume recyclers dramatically and cost-effectively improve their production with minimal downtime,” according to the Milwaukee, Wis.-based company.

The shredder, which comes in both stationary and portable units, features hard-faced knives measuring 24 inches in diameter and made using an AR-500 alloy. The shredders include cutting chambers ranging from 55-inches-by-44-inches to 72-inches-by-44-inches.

“The unit’s design addresses the vulnerabilities of conventional shredders by utilizing an inexpensive cluster drive system of eight small hydraulic motors, which create redundancy in the power supply that eliminates much of the possible downtime,” BCA stated.

The shredder totals between 24,000 and 38,000 pounds in gross weight, not including its power supply. It is designed to shred 15 to 35 tons of material per hour, based on the material being targeted, and provides 179,000 foot pounds of torque per knife.

The system provides the ability to boost throughput by using up to 800 horsepower and using dual cutting chambers, according to BCA.
