EPA Electronics Challenge winners announced

HP laptops at an electronics store.Best Buy, Dell and Xerox were among the equipment manufacturers honored by the federal government for their electronics sustainability efforts.

The Sustainable Materials Management Electronics Challenge Awards recognize leading OEMs for designing sustainable products and processes, while also diverting electronics from landfills, according to a press release. The gold tier award winners for 2018 were Dell, HP, LG, Samsung Electronics America, Sony, Sprint, Staples, TCL and Xerox. The silver tier award winners were Best Buy and VIZIO.

EPA also gave three awards in product, non-product and cutting-edge award categories.

LG Electronics USA, TCL North America and VIZIO issued press releases highlighting their awards.
