Arrow brings e-Stewards certification to all facilities

Multinational electronic components supplier Arrow Electronics has reached a three-year agreement with the Basel Action Network to certify all of Arrow’s electronics recycling and IT asset recovery operations worldwide to the e-Stewards standard.

The pilot program makes Arrow the first company with locations on multiple continents to bring the certification to all its operations. The manufacturer has facilities in North America, Europe and South America, recently opening its first facility in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

In a press release, Scott Venhaus, the company’s director of quality and compliance, stated: “Arrow’s value recovery business is committed to maintaining the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility while contributing to the best practices of the industry on a global basis.” Venhaus will join a committee of e-Stewards members to aid in the development of global industry standards for electronics recycling.

Arrow’s decision to broaden the geographical scope of e-Stewards was commended by executive director of BAN, Jim Puckett.

“We are very proud to partner with such a quality industry player as Arrow and are thrilled to accept its offer to pilot our program not only over North America but in Europe, Latin America and beyond,” Puckett said. “Arrow joins a select group of electronics recyclers that believe that leaders must lead, not just comply.”

In late 2012, Arrow announced the acquisition of the IT asset and recycling refurbishment firm Redemtech, an early supporter of the e-Stewards standard. All Arrow facilities are also currently certified to the R2 standard.
