Although some have already dubbed it the "budget iPhone," reports have surfaced that Apple’s new iPhone features a plastic casing. A recent video has all but confirmed the speculations, although no news has surfaced detailing the lucky plastics manufacturer in charge of making the new cases.
The Center for Sustainable Polymers has partnered with more than 25 companies to develop alternative plastics from green materials, quite literally. The center is working to produce bio-plastic with materials such as vegetable oils and starch, and even the grass growing in your backyard, in its efforts to make traditional petroleum-based plastics production obsolete.
New Hampshire plastics recycler Poly Recovery LLC has completed its expansion and has its sights already set on company goals. According to CEO John Pelech, the facility will add between 16 and 30 employees to help reach an output goal of 68 million to 70 million pounds of various plastics per year, more than doubling its output pre-expansion.
