PetroChem Wire: Recycled polystyrene prices drop in December
By Editorial Staff, Resource Recycling
Both HIPS and GPPS repro and regrind prices fell throughout December due to a lack of buying interest, with the total decline for all grades around 2 cents per pound.
Pellet prices at the end of 2012 ranged from 49-51 cents per pound for GPPS mixed color, to 73-75 cents per pound for HIPS white. HIPS white regrind was reported selling at 62-64 cents per pound at the end December versus 64-66 cents at the end of November. Virgin polystyrene continued to sell in late December near $1 per pound.
