A new documentary film titled "Terra Blight " takes a look at the hazardous waste created by American consumers' consumption of electronics by tracing the life cycle of computers from their creation to their disposal. According to a synopsis of the film, "the audience will never look at their computer the same way again."
Cell phone service provider Verizon Wireless has collected 1 million retail trade-in devices through its In Store Trade-In Program, which was a launched a year ago and has kept 140 tons of e-scrap out of landfills. Through the program, customers purchasing a new device can trade in their old device for a gift card redeemable at the company's stores.
