NewsBits"Hazardous e-waste has become one of the biggest health risks of this century in Pakistan," reports the Daily Times [1]. According to the paper, existing laws and regulations in Pakistan are doing little to stop the inflow of e-waste into the country and to a population largely unaware of the health and environmental hazards associated with the material. According to an article [2] in the Santa Cruz Sentinel, the California city is considering using exclusively e-Stewards certified e-scrap processors for its electronic waste. If the proposed ordinance is enacted, Santa Cruz would join San Jose, California and King County, Washington, which have adopted similar measures. |
