Petrochem Wire: PE prices hold steady in October
By Editorial Staff, Resource Recycling
PE prices were mostly steady in October, according to PetroChem Wire's most recent Repro/Regrind Resin report.
Although spot prime grade and off-grade PE prices had eased during the month, scrap supply remained tight and scrap prices did not drop. October pricing stayed slightly above 50 cents per pound for mixed color and black frac melt pellets, while natural frac melt and HMW pellets were in the low- to mid-60s cents per pound range. Regrind prices were largely 10 cents below repro pricing during October. With prime grade prices dropping in October, repro and regrind PE suppliers faced heavy bearish pressure for November, as buyers have largely pushed for corresponding price decreases. The shrinking availability of scrap has kept scrap pricing supported and this has been threatening to squeeze margins for repro and regrind producers.
