The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. has approved new guidelines for bales of mixed bottles, containers and rigid plastics.
Developed by ISRI's Plastics Recycling Council, the guidelines recommend contamination levels under 2 percent for all bales and says caps, closures and labels can be included with recoverable material. The guidelines also outline acceptable content for certain bales, such as mixed, unsorted 1-7 bottles and containers, which can include any type of rigid packaging or container; mixed, sorted 3-7 bales, which includes non-PET and non-HDPE bulky rigids, tubs, trays and other packaging; and mixed bulky rigid bales, which consist primarily of non-bottle PE and PP tubs, toys, buckets and other items.
