NewsBitsBy Editorial Staff, Resource Recycling Keep America Beautiful is attempting to raise $3 million for a national marketing campaign designed to boost recycling participation. The effort includes the Ad Council, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Earth911. KAB has raised about 50 percent of the needed funds from the Alcoa, American Chemistry Council, Anheuser-Busch, Nestles Water and Waste Management. Susan and Kerry Brown hold fundraisers for nonprofit organizations in Northwestern Oregon in "Big Red," a mobile grilling cart made from 70 percent recycled or repurposed materials and are featured a story [1] in the North Coast Citizen (link from the Association of Oregon Recyclers). Agilyx, an Oregon-based alternative energy company that converts difficult-to-recycle plastics into synthetic crude oil, has announced that it has been chosen as one of the companies in the 2011 Global Cleantech 100, a list [2] produced by the U.K.'s Guardian News and Media that recognizes companies focused on green innovation. Universal Fibers, Inc. has filed Patent Application No. 20110257345 which describes a method for separating, cleaning and recycling post-consumer carpet and backing material. |
