The Association of Plastic Recyclers has opened up the nomination period for the group’s Plastics Recycling Showcase, which features advancements that improve plastics collection and recycling.

This is the second year APR has held the event. Last year’s iteration highlighted a recycled-content product, recycling-friendly label, new polymers, sortation equipment and an outreach effort. The showcase focuses on recently commercialized advances from APR member companies

“This program is part of APR’s Champions for Change Program, which was created to encourage innovators to address technical challenges facing plastic recyclers,” John Standish, APR’s technical director, stated in a press release. “We recognize that innovation drives the growth of recycling and is essential to the success of the plastics recycling industry.”

In addition to highlighting new products, the upcoming showcase will include an additional category focusing on community engagement.

The nomination deadline is Oct. 31.

Selected innovators will be recognized during the APR Technical Forum, which will be held in conjunction with Plastics Recycling 2017, scheduled for March 6-8, 2017 in New Orleans. They’ll also be featured on the APR website and via an APR webinar.

The APR site offers more information on potential candidates for nominations and allows users to submit nominations.
