PetroChem Wire: Recycled HDPE pellets up a penny in June
June 20, 2014
HDPE frac melt natural pellets commanded 76 to 81 cents per pound in mid-June, up a penny from end-May on strong demand for dairy containers and water bottles. Prices are up around 15 cents per pound, or 19 percent, since the beginning of 2014.
Higher prices for natural HDPE bales are supporting the pellet market. In the regrind market, however, prices for HMW regrind originating from drums are down 3 cents per pound in June from May at 47 to 49 cents per pound FOB U.S. East Coast. This reflects abundant supply and sagging horticultural demand.
The price of prime blow molding HDPE rose 1 cent per pound in early June to 77 cents per pound.
