PetroChem Wire: HDPE prices hold steady
April 24, 2014
HDPE post-consumer frac-melt natural dairy prices have been firm in April from March at 73-76 cents per pound on steady demand and adequate supply.
Large-volume business has been done at 75 cents per pound, delivered Southern U.S. and East Coast. HDPE post-industrial frac-melt copolymer mixed colors (MC) prices are up a penny in April at 50-52 cents per pound on seasonal demand. HDPE injection-crate MC pellet prices consolidated 2 cents per pound lower at 47-52 cents per pound FOB East Coast on weak demand and plentiful supply.
On regrind, HDPE HMW drums are down 1-2 cents per pound on good supply as sellers unload inventory built up during the winter months. Business in the first two weeks of April was done at 52-53 cents per pound, delivered Pennsylvania.
LDPE injection MC regrind prices are at 38-40 cents per pound, down 4 cents per pound in April from March with a bloated supply base giving leverage to large-volume buyers for delivery to plants on the U.S. Gulf Coast. Business was done at 38 cents per pound and 39 cents per pound delivered Houston in the first half of April.
