A Canadian non-ferrous scrap metal recycler has decided to expand into the U.S. and open a 60,000-square-foot e-scrap recycling facility in upstate New York.

Based in Ontario, BoMET Holding is currently at work on renovations to a facility in Albion, New York previously owned by the Orleans Economic Development Agency. The company expects to begin operations within the first half of 2014.

Once up and running, the facility will process used electronics from the surrounding area and, at full capacity, it hopes to employ a team of 30 workers, according to a press release.

The company's first U.S. operation will be located roughly 120 miles from the company's headquarters in Cambridge, Ontario.

BoMET also owns and operates a scrap metal processing facility in Hebei, China.
