Green Technology Solutions (GTSO) is advancing its push into Latin America, as the company looks to the region to emerge as a major player in the global e-scrap market.
GTSO has partnered with its Chilean recycling partner, Chilerecicla, to launch a program in Bolivia encouraging e-scrap collectors, also known as urban miners, to collect and sell large quantities of e-scrap to the American-Chilean tandem. According to a GTSO press release, Chilerecicla has already reached an agreement with a Bolivian e-scrap recycling facility, which is expected to begin supplying Chilerecicla with shipments of e-scrap this week.
A similar program was launched in Chile and initial discussions are underway to expand the potentially lucrative business to additional Latin American countries, including Argentina and Ecuador, the press release states.
In late 2012 GTSO also acquired Global Cell Buyers (now Green Urban Mining) to enhance its processing capabilities within the U.S.
