PetroChem Wire: Recycled polyethylene prices mixed in July

By Editorial Staff, Resource Recycling

HDPE injection crate regrind prices are falling as sellers of material intended for export to China seek U.S. buyers.

Deals for injection crate flake, mixed colors, were done in early July as low as 46 cents per pound, delivered, down 2-3 cents per pound from June. HDPE HMW drum regrind prices are down 1-2 cents to 50 cents per pound delivered (48 cents per pound FOB), also on rising availabilities.

However, fractional melt dairy natural repro HDPE prices are up 2-3 cents per pound in July to 62-67 cents per pound based on strong summertime consumption. LDPE mixed color melt material (extrusion/film mix) is steady at 45 cents, with LDPE MC film-only offered a nickel higher than extrusion-film mix. In the U.S. Gulf spot prime market, blow molding HDPE was steady in the first half of July at 68 cents per pound.
