Spanish researchers at the University of Alicante have developed a new way to remove printed ink on plastic films during the recycling process. The researchers say the process uses a physical-chemical treatment that does not rely on organic solvents.
The Carpet America Recovery Effort has issued a Request for Proposal seeking new ideas for end-uses for post-consumer carpet. Proposals are due by June 17 and would be scheduled to start Aug. 1 of this year, concluding June 30, 2014. The full requirements and contact information can be found here.
The American Chemistry Council's Plastics Make it Possible initiative has launched Bathroom to Bin — an interactive online tool that shows how plastic is used in common bathroom items, as well as how they can be recycled. Visitors to the site can also enter into a drawing to win a $500 American Express gift card.
