Qatar researcher invents new plastic composite

By Editorial Staff, Resource Recycling

In Qatar, a researcher may have found a way to improve the quality of recycled plastics while making them less expensive.

Dr. Noorunnisa Khanam Patan, a post-doctoral researcher at Qatar University's Center for Advanced Materials, has found that date palm wood flour and date palm leaf fiber, both of which are abundant agricultural waste products in the Middle Eastern country, can be used to produce recycled polymer composites that are less expensive and have superior properties to their more conventional counterparts, reports the Gulf Times.
