Largest-ever container ship to soon ply the seas
Largest-ever container ship to soon ply the seasBy Editorial Staff, Resource Recycling Does your company or community generate about 225,000 tons annually of secondary materials? If so, you could transport a year's worth of recyclables in just one run on a new ship that will soon begin operating. Danish shipping giant AP Moller Maersk will take possession this spring of a container ship capable of carrying 9,000 40-foot-long containers. Already Maersk and other lines employ ships that can move 8,000 containers on the Europe-to-Far-East trade route. Industry analysts say such vessels can cut per-container shipping costs by about 10 percent. |
